Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA)
was set up on the 26th January, 1975 under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development
Authority Act, 1974 by the Government of Maharashtra as an apex body for planning
and co-ordination of development activities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region comprising
of Mumbai and its influence area.

Limited (CIDCO) was established in March 1970 with a seed capital of
just INR 3.95 crores. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra
Ltd., was a necessity and Navi Mumbai- the land of comforts and luxuries - is its

Public Works Department Maharashtra is the premier
agency of Government engaged in planning, designing, construction and maintenance
of Government assets in the field of built environment and infrastructure development.
Assets in built environment include Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Technical Institutes,
Police Buildings, Prisons, Courts etc; assets in infrastructure development include
Roads, Bridges, Flyovers, Footpaths, Subways etc. PWD Maharashtra also sustains
and preserves these assets through a well developed system of maintenance which
includes amongst others specialized services like rehabilitation works, roads signage
and aesthetic treatments like interiors, monument lighting, landscaping etc.

Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC)
was constituted in the year 2002 by the Government of Maharashtra (GoM) as a Special
Purpose Company. MADC was jointly formed with equity participation from City and
Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (CIDCO), Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT),
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Maharashtra State Road Development
Corporation Ltd. (MSRDC) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation has joined in equity participation.
MADC has been formed to play a lead role in the planning and implementation of the
Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHANTM) project, keeping in mind
the key objectives. The Government of Maharashtra has taken the initiative of setting
up a world class Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur. MADC would also
take up development of other Airports in Maharashtra not belonging to the Airports
Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Air Force (IAF) which will provide air connectivity
between various important district Head Quarters and the Capital of the State

Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) came into existence
in 1996 and Commissioner, Water Transport was re-designated as Chief Executive Officer,
MMB.
Commissionerate of Water Transport was formed in 1990 by amalgamating 3 departments
within the Port Organisation, i.e. CPO, Hydrographer and Marine Engineer, for better
co-ordination and to promote development of minor and intermediate ports in the
State of Maharashtra, and to administer, control and manage these ports.
